Staff swim the channel!

Miss Vandenbroucke and Mr Black are currently swimming up to 120 lengths of their local pools each week in order to swim the length of the English Channel by the end of the term. They are raising money for Aspire and Steps, the latter of which is our Junior School Charity this year. Some updates from the staff are below:

I am up to 816 lengths of a 25 metre pool.  600 lengths to go to achieve the cross-channel gold standard of 22miles by December 6th. Ann and I have agreed in principle to swim the final few lengths at the same time so hopefully we will get some pictures up of the final lengths!

So far I have raised about £350 but of course there is always work to be done. If you would like to donate please visit:

If you visit the Aspire website (click here) you can calculate how far across the channell we have currently completed.

Many thanks to all of you who have donated so far.

I'm completing my swim in a 20 metre pool - I need to swim a total of 1770 lengths in order to cover the 22 mile distance of the English Channel.

After a rest from swimming over the half term break I am now back into swimming again, eager to finish the swim. I have managed to complete 1170 lengths so far :-) When talking to the boys in year 1 about my swimming progress some seemed a little worried about me getting eaten by sharks in the middle of the English Channel.

I am raising money for 2 different charities:

1. Steps (supporting children with lower limb difficulties) online donations page at http://www.justgiving.com/Ann-Vandenbroucke I have raised a total or £60 so far
2. Aspire (supporting people with spinal cord injuries) I have raised £30 in cash so far for this charity

A huge thanks to those who have sponsored me so far.
