NSPCC - Internet Safety Talk
(Monday 1st February 2010)
Today we had a visitor from the NSPCC to talk to the senior school boys (Years 4-8) about internet safety. The hard hitting assembly helped the boys understand about the dangers of chatting online, using emails and social networking sites. With 100% owndership of computers at home our boys are very prone to the modern dangers that all too real. The talk helped support the ICT department's stance on the use of the internet which is to be safe at all times and make sure your use of the internet is appropriate to your age. Some of the advice from the talk was:
- - Be safe at all times
- - Report anything you don't like to a teacher, relative or to the website it is on. Most social networking sites have a 'report' button.
- - Facebook's minimum age is 13. Don't lie about your age as you will be considered much older than you are.
- - Only accept online friends with people you are certain you know. If in doubt call them to make sure.
There will also be an opportunity for parents to come to a talk in the Townsend Hall on Wednesday 3rd February at 6pm
All Senior School boys are being asked this week to complete the online 'ICT at home' survey. You can do this by clicking here. You will need your username and password - if you have any problems, please click here.
