Dear
Parents ,
Welcome
to the Tower House School Web site. We hope that this will give
you a flavour of our school but you need to actually be here
to capture the wonderful atmosphere of hard work, endeavour,
fun, challenge and success. Our Motto “ An Opportunity
for Every Child” means exactly that. All boys in our school
are encouraged to be the best that they can possibly be and
are given every opportunity to be so.
A
great deal has been achieved in the last five years. We have built
up a tremendous team of teachers who are excellent in their field.
Our knowledgeable and experienced staff have been joined by a
new Head of English who is taking the boys’ literacy into
a completely different hemisphere. We have a new Deputy Head,
Head of Music and IT, Junior School Coordinator and Drama teacher
- all appointments have impacted on the school hugely and has
lifted an already fine school into an excellent one. Our new hall/theatre
has been finished for some while now and is the superb multi purpose
performance space that we were promised. We have new computers
throughout the school, interactive whiteboards, an intranet system
which allows boys contact with each other and with staff and staff
can also message their colleagues. We have home school links,
homework on line, syllabi on line. The music department now boasts
a fantastic series of concert programmes, with the wind band,
jazz band, guitar ensemble, choir, orchestra. We have put on four
major drama productions, ‘Sweeney Todd’, ‘The
Importance of Being Ernest’, ‘The Little Shop of Horrors’
and ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’.
Our
sporting success continues also, with a formidable list of fixtures
and an impressive number of successes against much larger schools.
Fencing is an increasingly popular option for our boys We currently
have an U11 and U13 squad who compete against other schools and
in regional competitions. In 2007 a Year 6 pupil became the national
U12 Prep school champion in Foil.
Academically
we have had 100% success every year in getting boys into their
future schools. In the last three years for example, the results
have been as pleasing as they always are and our boys went to
the following schools:-
Winchester
College, St Paul’s School, King’s College, Hampton,
Dulwich College, Charterhouse, Marlborough College, Harrow, Tonbridge,
Epsom College, The Harrodian, Cranleigh, Bradfield College, Reeds,
Stowe, Latymer, Eton, Millfield
Come and see us – you will be made very welcome. Either
phone and arrange to attend one of our Open Mornings, or if this
is not convenient arrange a tour and a chat with me at a more
suitable time. I would be delighted to meet you.

Message from The
Chair of Governors Mr Jamie Forsyth
I
have now been the Chair of Governors at Tower House School for
3 years and together with the Board of Governors, we have seen
a huge improvement across the whole curriculum offered at the
School. Not only has the Head, Jackie Compton-Howlett and her
team achieved outstanding results at all levels and in particular
at CE examinations in an increasingly competitive world but there
is a real upbeat feel about every activity the boys undertake
at all ages. The calendar of events and activities from sport
to school trips, from school plays to choir visits, from charity
raising to ski trips are all undertaken with zest and enthusiasm
to allow the boys to develop their skills and confidence. The
social responsibility programme, including the Dan Phillips Award,
is exceptional for a school with such young boys. ICT has developed
particularly well over the recent years with Interactive Whiteboards
across the junior department and exceptional facilities throughout
the school. All this has been achieved within the ethos of Tower
House. On behalf of the Head, the Governors are proud that Tower
House continues to prepare all the boys well for the challenges
ahead.
The School has embraced the many changes that are being continually
asked in the teaching world and the School has adapted readily
to the increasing demands and standards that are set. The Governors
are kept well up to speed on all that is not only happening at
the School but regularly meet to debate, decide and promote initiatives
that come forward. We are always mindful of the need to look closely
at the future to maintain the very high standards that have been
achieved and we are pleased to have seen the success of the Head
and the Staff without losing any of the traditions and highest
standards held throughout the whole School.” |
