With Mental Health awareness month in full swing THS has been focusing on our mental wellbeing, identifying our feeling and learning about Mindfulness. Recently all year groups have taken time out of the classroom to reconnect with nature in the fantastic Richmond Park to take some time for outdoor activities including drawing, sculpture making alongside sports and games.
With the lack of trips this year we managed to get our hands on a set of VR headsets to experience an immersive lesson, from the Zoo with reception to the gritty trenches with Year 6. After a hours of woahs, ooohs, and arrrs all year groups thoroughly enjoyed the trips.
This week we have had a huge injection of fun with a Sci-Fi themed book week!
This week Year 1 focussed our attentions on some more long-term issues facing society at large – that being the pollution of our oceans with plastic.
Year 7 enjoyed a fun packed week down on the south coast for the annual trip to Calshot spit.
They say success breeds success – a few years ago we thought it would be nice to give our ensembles a spring term focus; but now it has developed into a fully blown Creative arts evening – and all organised within half a term!
On Thursday 7th of February Year 4 spent the day at The Royal Institution learning about acids and alkalis and how scientists carefully combine the two to make cosmetics which are safe to use.
Thanks to the ideas of Max and James in Year 8, Maths Week V had a retro video game theme, dominated by Super Mario.
This week we were delighted to learn that both Callum and Ewen Hector have been selected to play hockey for Middlesex in their respective age groups.
We are incredibly proud of Wilfred, Arthur, Gilby, Leo, Max, Sebastian and Ashwin from Year 1 who we see here showing off their medals for Fair Play.
