Why Tower House?
Tower House is an exceptional, non-selective Prep School in London well known for its nurturing ethos and its legacy of developing outstanding boys that are happy, kind and curious about the world around them.
Strong Ethos
Integral to our ethos is the belief that the most formative years of a boy’s childhood lie between the ages of 4 to 13. During these crucial nine years Tower House provides a rich learning environment in which the boys are given time to practise the skills of thinking, debate and inquiry, to modify their views because of another's reasoning, and importantly listen, understand and empathise with the experience of others.
Unparalleled Value
At THS, we deliver unparalleled value through extended school days, allowing us to accommodate an exceptional number of lessons each day and plant as many seeds of opportunity as possible. Our boys are in class for significantly more lessons each week than is standard in the independent sector. As a result, a single week offers a smorgasbord of experiences in and out of the classroom. Whether it’s performing in a West End–quality school production, pupils curating their own artwork for sale, launching a business, or being part of one of our music ensembles, opportunities abound for personal growth.
We are proudly non-selective on entry but in the past two years, half of our Year 8 boys have transferred to their senior school with scholarships (academic, drama, art, sport and all-rounder).
Specialist Teaching
From Reception, specialist teachers bring expertise and passion to every subject, such as the teaching of French, music and sport, ensuring that our pupils benefit from expert guidance and instruction from the start of their journey with us. It is extremely unusual to provide this level of support from such a young age, however building a strong foundation of knowledge and skills in a non-selective school helps to ensures our pupils thrive academically. Our Year 3 boys for instance are inspired in the humanities through the teaching of our Head of Geography and History.
Our highly skilled and motivated staff also take enormous pride and care in developing the characters of our pupils from a young age, ensuring that as well as academic strength, the ‘soft skills’ of confidence, empathy and resilience results in young men that are happy and well prepared for the demands of senior school and beyond.
