About Tower House
Our boys want to be part of everything. Whether it be sports teams, musical ensembles or our famous drama productions; pupils are enthusiastic because they know they are valued and have an important contribution to make.
We are an independent preparatory school for boys aged 4 - 13 based in East Sheen, in the Borough of Richmond Upon Thames, South-West London. We offer an exceptional education, focusing on strong literacy, maths and an extensive extracurricular programme. Emphasis is placed on academic progress and development through continual monitoring and supporting individual needs. We are very proud that over 50% of our Year 8 cohort were awarded academic, music, sport, art and drama scholarships to Senior Schools in 2026.
A rich learning environment with small year group sizes means no boy is left behind and curiosity, debate and critical thinking are strongly encouraged. Our strong school values and the small, personal nature of Tower House enables a feeling of a large family, where everyone knows and supports each other, allowing strong self – esteem in pupils.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the benefits of an all boys education?
At Tower House we understand boys and the need to tailor our teaching to each individual boy’s needs. Our staff have chosen specifically to teach boys, and their teaching methods as well as our activities and support systems are specifically designed for the way boys learn and develop. The depth of experience and understanding in our staff means we know how to ensure that our boys thrive and make unselfconscious educational choices that build their confidence and maximise their success.
We are incredibly proud of all our boys and hugely enjoy helping them to develop into well-rounded, confident and happy individuals.
Our close relationship with Old Vicarage School enables us to provide the best of both worlds to all our pupils. Every term we offer multiple opportunities for every year group from both schools to come together for academic workshops, social events, and extracurricular activities. We believe that selected opportunities to interact with girls lead to a healthy understanding of positive relationships and diverse perspectives.
What are the class sizes at Tower House?
Tower House is a small school with one form in each year group. This means that we have a very close community, where every boy across the school knows each other and is valued for their contribution.
As we only have one form in each year, we are able to cap our class sizes at 18 for Reception, 22 for Y1 – 3 and 24 for Y4 - Y8.
In addition, we offer an unusually high level of specialist teaching across a range of subjects from Reception, which also ensures the boys reach their full potential.
