Tower House School is an outstanding independent prep school close to Mortlake, where boys aged 4-13 can discover their passions and feel inspired to explore them with open hearts and minds.
Located in East Sheen, in Richmond Upon Thames, with a daily school bus service running from Mortlake, our school offers a rich learning environment where boys practice thinking, debate and enquiry, learn to modify their views based on the reasoning of those around them and listen, understand and empathise with others’ experiences.

Our main entry point is in Reception, with occasional places becoming offered in higher year groups. We would be happy to guide you through our admissions process, and also give recommendations on the nurseries that we work closely with throughout Mortlake and East Sheen.

Key to our values, we strive to develop young men with a sense of gratitude, responsibility, and a genuine care for others, so they are well prepared for Senior School and beyond, with the intellectual curiosity and resilience to take on and actively seek new challenges.
With English and maths at the core of the curriculum, in Senior School the boys are taught by specialist teachers who inspire and motivate in each specific subject. Regular assessments are tracked across the year to monitor progress and add intervention where required, to ensure every pupil is making the maximum academic progress.
Our Mortlake and East Sheen Community Links
We are very proud to be part of the community in Mortlake and East Sheen and work closely with a number of organisations in the local community, such as FiSH Neighbourhood Care, Holly Lodge and the Mortlake with East Sheen Society to raise funds for important causes and provide access to our facilities for meetings.
In addition, we run a shuttle bus every morning from Tower House School to Old Vicarage Girls’ School in Richmond, to support our local families in East Sheen with children at both schools, also reducing congestion on the local roads during rush hour.

What is the first step in the admissions process to Tower House?
We encourage parents to get in touch with us and arrange a visit to either an Open Event, or a personal tour with our Head, Neill Lunnon. We really enjoy showing families around our wonderful school and introducing them to staff and pupils.
Following a visit, if you would like to register your child with us, we ask parents to complete the admissions registration form. The first 18 boys registered with us are automatically offered a place in Reception. For places further up the school, these become available on an occasional basis.

Does Tower House have many families from Mortlake?
Yes, our close proximity to Mortlake means that many of our families live in Mortlake. Some of the older boys walk to school, whilst others catch the school bus from Mortlake each morning.
Some of our staff also live in Mortlake and East Sheen, and highly value being part of the local community in South West London.
Do THS boys have opportunities to mix with girls?
Yes, absolutely! We are pleased to come together with Old Vicarage School for academic workshops and social activities, co-ordinating key events throughout the year. We believe these opportunities to interact with girls lead to a healthy understanding of diverse perspectives and positive relationships.
As a result, we believe we have the best of both worlds, able to design our teaching around the needs of boys, whilst allowing plenty of opportunity to socialise and work with girls.
